I am aspiring to be a Physician-scientist specialising in infectious disease epidemiology, vaccine-preventable disease surveillance, and advanced evidence synthesis β with demonstrated international research achievement and applied public health leadership in Australia.
About
I completed a PhD in Public Health at Central Queensland University, supported by the International Excellence Award. Concurrently, I worked as a Residential Medical Officer and Senior Epidemiologist within Central Queensland public health services β integrating clinical practice with epidemiological research and outbreak response.
My research spans infectious disease burden estimation, vaccine-preventable disease surveillance, and evidence synthesis through systematic reviews and meta-analyses. I have collaborated with research teams across Australia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Vietnam, Japan, and the USA.
I am affiliated with the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service and the School of Medical, Health and Applied Sciences at CQUniversity, Rockhampton, QLD.
Central Queensland University β International Excellence Award. Research focus: burden of vaccine-preventable infectious diseases in susceptible populations.
Simultaneously serving as Junior House Officer and Senior Epidemiologist at Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, Rockhampton.
Active collaborations across Australia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Vietnam, UK, Japan, and the USA with publications in The Lancet, BMJ Open, PLOS ONE, and other leading journals.
Research Areas
Investigating burden, transmission dynamics, and clinical features of infectious diseases β dengue, COVID-19, sepsis, tuberculosis β across community and healthcare settings globally.
Establishing and leading prospective VPD surveillance systems in residential aged care facilities in Central Queensland to inform immunisation strategy and public health policy.
PRISMA-guided synthesis of global evidence on infectious disease epidemiology, clinical outcomes, and public health interventions using advanced meta-analytic methods.
Leveraging large national and international datasets to investigate disease trends, socioeconomic determinants, and population-level epidemiology in high- and low-income settings.
Examining the epidemiological burden of infectious diseases among aged care residents β COVID-19 outbreaks, VPD burden, and outbreak response in residential facilities.
Investigating COVID-19 vaccine coverage disparities, healthcare utilisation determinants, and infectious disease burden in low- and middle-income countries.

Curriculum Vitae
Insights & Perspectives
Accessible summaries of research findings, epidemiological commentary, and perspectives on public health challenges β for researchers, clinicians, and the curious public.
What the COVID-19 aged care crisis revealed about our public health blind spots
Our landmark meta-analysis of 214,380 aged care residents across 14 countries found attack rates of 45% and case fatality rates of 23% β far exceeding community figures. Here's what that means for policy.
A practical guide to systematic reviews in infectious disease epidemiology
From PROSPERO registration to PRISMA reporting β a step-by-step primer distilled from 18+ reviews. Covers database selection, bias assessment, and heterogeneity interpretation.
Why we still don't know the true burden of VPDs in aged care
Setting up the first prospective VPD surveillance system in Central Queensland aged care highlighted a critical data gap in Australian public health β and why filling it matters urgently.
